This painting of Valletta, Malta is the view from Fort Tigne in Sliema and was commissioned by an existing client. Malta is one of my favourite Mediterranean islands and my wife and I visited there in 2011.
The Valletta skyline is dominated by the silver dome of the Carmelite Church and the adjacent 60 metre spire of the Anglican Cathedral of St. Paul. In this painting the buildings have taken on an orange glow cast by the setting sun and providing a wonderful contrast with the darkening sky.
In the foreground is a traditional water taxi boat known as 'dghajsa' that provides cruises in and around the Grand Harbour, as well as crossings between Valletta and the historic towns of Senglea and Vittoriosa. Cruising in front of the cathedral is a Luzzu harbour tour boat painted in traditional Maltese colours. A harbour cruise was one of the highlights of our trip to Malta and is highly recommended to anyone visiting the island.

Born in Bromley, England, in 1951, Richard has had a passion for drawing and painting from a very young age. As a youngster, he was always drawing and became a prolific painter after he received an...

Richard Harpum replied:
Hi Lyndsey, Yes, I so ship to Malta. In fact I've sold a couple of originals there. However, if you order anything via Fine Art America, I have no idea but I suspect that they will ship artwork anywhere. What do you have in mind?
