Tickhill in South Yorkshire is located south of Doncaster and is one of a couple of pretty small towns in the area. As a resident, I spend a lot of time walking around the village and enjoying the atmosphere.
This scene is from the duck pond looking towards St. Mary�s Church, which is famous for its four-hourly chimes. I was able to capture this scene after one of the few snow falls in recent years. The sunset is actually taken from one of my large collection that I photograph whenever I see a good one.
Award-winning artist, Richard Harpum, paints in a realist style, paying meticulous attention to detail. His medium of choice is acrylics on canvas or board but he also uses oils and paints watercolour florals. Richard's primary focus is landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and gardens but he also paints portraits, still lifes and florals. The effective use of light is a key ingredient to all of Richard’s works and he spends a great deal of time before starting a painting in selecting a composition that provides both drama and contrast.
