Description
This painting was selected as a Finalist in International Artist Magazine's Landscape Art Challenge No. 55 and published in Issue 71 February/March 2010.
Knaresborough is a beautiful, historic market and spa town in North Yorkshire, England and is set on a bluff on the River Nidd. The railway viaduct over the river is a focal point and is the main subject of this painting, where it is viewed from the castle.
Crossing the viaduct is the Union of South Africa, an A4 locomotive pulling the Scarborough Spa Express, which ran in July and August 2007.
This image has been used as a jigsaw by Wentworth Wooden Puzzles and more recently by WH Smith, the large UK stationary retailer.

Very impressive painting, I was gobsmacked when I realized it wasn't a photo. I am not surprised it was a finalist in the IA magazine. It should have placed really. Congrats on the print sale. ( My hub is from Bradford, Yorkshire).
